Privacy policy

Hitokuji is a daily Japanese study app made by Wano Labs LLC (“we”). We collect as little as we can. You don’t need an account, there are no ads, and we don’t sell or share your data.

What stays on your phone

Your progress lives on your device: which fortunes you’ve opened, which slips you’ve tied for review, your charms, and your reminder settings. We can’t see any of it unless you turn on sync.

If you sign in to sync

Signing in with Apple or Google is optional. If you do, we receive an account ID and, if you choose to share it, your email address. We store that with a copy of your progress so it can sync across devices. The synced copy is kept by our hosting provider, Supabase, on our behalf. We never get your password. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email, and then we only see a relay address.

Purchases

The full year is a one-time purchase handled by the App Store or Google Play. They process the payment. We use RevenueCat to check that receipt, so it receives the receipt and an anonymous app ID. We never get your card details.

Notifications

Daily reminders are scheduled on your phone. We don’t send them from a server, and we don’t use them to track you.

Deleting your data

Go to せってい (Settings) → Your data → Delete account and data. This erases everything on your phone straight away and, if you’re signed in, deletes your account and the synced copy on our servers at the same time. Deleting the app also removes the local copy. You can email us to ask for a copy of your data or to have it deleted.

Children

Hitokuji isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has signed in, contact us and we’ll delete the account.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data. Email us and we’ll reply within 30 days.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data, we’ll tell you in the app first.
